Karnataka UGNEET Round 3 Seat Allotment 2026: Choice-4 Exit, Penalty Rules and Final Result Process Explained

Oct 6, 2026

Overview

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has published the Karnataka UGNEET Round 3 Seat Allotment provisional result for admission to Medical and Dental courses, under No. ED/KEA/ADMN/CR-11/2026, dated 3rd October 2026. This Karnataka UGNEET Round 3 Seat Allotment was conducted based on candidate merit and the options entered during choice filling, and it introduces Choice-4, a specific exit option for candidates holding allotments in both MCC and KEA counselling.

Candidates with provisional seats in this round of Karnataka UGNEET Round 3 Seat Allotment have until 12:00 Noon on 5th October 2026 to decide whether to retain their KEA seat, cancel it, or exit the process entirely — each option carries different consequences, and the notice sets out the exact rules for each.

Type

  • This is a Round 3 provisional seat allotment notice under UGNEET-2026, covering admission to Medical and Dental courses in Karnataka.

  • It specifically addresses candidates who hold parallel allotments through MCC (All India Quota/Central counselling) and KEA (State counselling).

State / Authority

  • Conducted by the Government of Karnataka, through the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA).

  • Governs State Quota MBBS and BDS seat allotment as part of Karnataka UGNEET Round 3 Seat Allotment, alongside the parallel MCC process for All India Quota seats.

Provider

  • Issued by KEA, 18th Cross, Sampige Road, Malleshwaram, Bengaluru, under the signature of the Executive Director.

  • KEA is responsible for publishing provisional results, managing the Choice-4 exit process, and declaring the final result for every round of Karnataka UGNEET Round 3 Seat Allotment.

Choice-4: The Exit Option Explained

The core of this notice is Choice-4, which applies to three specific categories of candidates in Karnataka UGNEET Round 3 Seat Allotment:

  1. Candidates allotted seats through both MCC and KEA, who wish to take admission to their third round MCC-allotted seat, may exit KEA's process by selecting Choice-4 without paying any penalty, through the link on the KEA website, on or before 5th October 2026, 12:00 Noon.

  2. Candidates who already reported to a college for a seat allotted in KEA's first or second round, and who now wish to take admission to their third round MCC-allotted seat, may cancel their KEA seat by paying a penalty of ₹10,000, also before the same deadline.

  3. Candidates willing to take admission through a third round counselling conducted by another state, or simply not interested in their KEA third-round allotted seat, may similarly cancel by paying the ₹10,000 penalty, before 5th October 2026, 12:00 Noon.

Candidates who exit under any of these three options will not be eligible to participate in further rounds conducted by KEA.

Candidates Who Want to Retain Their KEA Seat

A fourth category applies to candidates who have joined a college in MCC Round 1 or Round 2, were also allotted a seat in MCC Round 3, and additionally hold a KEA Round 3 allotment — yet wish to retain the KEA seat rather than opt out. These candidates must send an email to keauthority-ka@nic.in,  with the subject "Confirmation of My KEA Seat", mentioning their CET Number, Name, and Rank, on or before 5th October 2026, 12:00 Noon.

Re-Run and Final Results

Once the Choice-4 and cancellation window closes, KEA will re-run the third-round seat allotment, using the seats freed up by candidates who exited due to MCC or other-state admissions. Importantly, no changes to existing options are permitted at this stage — the re-run works only with choices candidates have already entered. After this re-run, the third-round seat allotment provisional results will be published again, with candidates considered for possible upgradation to higher-order option seats, subject to seat availability and applicable allotment rules.

Once this updated Karnataka UGNEET Round 3 Seat Allotment provisional result is announced, the Choice-4 and cancellation options will no longer be available. After that, the third round seat allotment final results will be published.

Penalties for Surrendering After Final Results

The notice sets out steep penalties for candidates who want to surrender a seat after the final results of this round are published:

  • ₹1,10,000 for Medical seats.

  • ₹60,000 for Dental seats.

This applies only if the surrender request is made before the last date prescribed for entry of options for the Stray Vacancy Round. If a candidate tries to surrender after that deadline, the request will not be entertained at all, and such candidates become ineligible to participate in KEA counselling for the next three years — with MCC also informed of this restriction.

A Note on Responsibility

KEA has also flagged a broader concern in this notice: if a candidate does not want the allotted college or course, or leaves the college after joining, it will be treated as a serious lapse in social responsibility, since other eligible candidates remain in the queue waiting for that very seat. This framing underscores how seriously KEA treats seat abandonment at any stage of Karnataka UGNEET Round 3 Seat Allotment.

What Candidates Should Do Now

  1. Identify which of the four categories applies to you — MCC exit without penalty, KEA seat cancellation with ₹10,000 penalty, other-state exit with ₹10,000 penalty, or seat retention via email confirmation.

  2. Act before 12:00 Noon on 5th October 2026, since this deadline applies to every option in this notice.

  3. Do not expect to modify your existing choices during the re-run — only the originally entered options will be used.

  4. Understand the steep penalty structure for late surrender — ₹1,10,000 for Medical and ₹60,000 for Dental — and the three-year debarment for surrendering after the Stray Vacancy Round deadline.

  5. Compare your allotted college against other available options before deciding — our verified college database can help you evaluate MBBS and BDS colleges across Karnataka quickly.
